The goal of the Youth Mental Health Court Worker service, a component of the Youth Therapeutic Court, is to identify and support those youth (up to 18 years) with criminal matters before the Court  who have suspected or diagnosed mental health, developmental issues, and/or acquired brain injury.  Referrals can be made at any point in the court process by the youth, a family member, community stakeholder, or any representative from the legal team. The service includes screening,  assessment , and a therapeutic approach to the resolution of charges which can  include diversion from the formal justice system.
